Brand mentions in your inbox

Email is the channel that works when nothing else does: no app to install, no workspace to join, no bot to authorise. It is on every plan, like every other provider, and it is the one where the relevance floor should be highest.

On every plan, including Free.

Point FishOut at an address

3 steps, a few minutes end to end.
  1. 1

    Add an address

Under Settings → Notifications, add an email channel and enter the address. It has to be the verified address of a member of your organization — FishOut re-checks that at send time, so alerts never go to an outside address. There is nothing to install on the other end.

    destination

    sam@acmemail.com
  2. 2

    Set the relevance floor high

Higher than any of the chat channels. Email is where the escalations go, not where the reading happens — at 90, only the most relevant posts reach anyone, and a burst arrives as one digest email rather than a stack of them.

  3. 3

    Pick the event

mention.scored is the one to subscribe to: it fires when the AI read is done, so it is the first event that carries a relevance a floor can filter on. reply.drafted is worth adding if you want to know when a reply draft is written.

Then set the floor

Email is the channel where a low relevance floor does the most damage, because an inbox has no scrollback that anyone forgives. A chat channel that fires too often gets muted; an email address that fires too often gets a filter rule, and a filter rule is invisible — the alerts keep sending, the delivery count keeps rising, and nobody reads any of it. Set it at 90 and let the inbox carry the rest.

[05] WHAT WILL BITE YOU/ LIMITS

What email is and is not for

These constraints are mostly ours rather than a vendor’s, which is the honest thing to say about email: there is no API to hit a limit on. What there is instead is a set of things email is bad at. Failures are tracked per channel, so one broken destination never stops the others.

One address per channel, and it must be a verified member of your organization. If three people need alerting, add three channels — each with its own floor. A distribution list or outside address is refused, by design. [source]

The first mention to clear the floor is mailed at once and the rest of a five-minute window arrive as one digest, so the real ceiling is how often FishOut collects: every hour on every plan, and every 15 minutes on Reddit, Hacker News and Bluesky for keywords you mark Fast on a paid plan. [source]

A mail rule is a silent failure. Unlike an archived Slack channel, a filtered inbox returns no error — the channel stays healthy and the deliveries keep counting. This is why the relevance floor matters more here than anywhere else. [source]

Email is the slowest channel to act on. There is nothing to click that assigns or archives — the link goes back to the inbox, where the actual triage happens. [source]

Every one of the thirteen providers, email included, is on every plan including Free. [source]
