How the limits count

Keywords. One keyword runs on every Core platform at once and counts once: Reddit, Hacker News, Bluesky, GitHub and Google News hourly, and YouTube and Medium every 6 hours on paid plans, because those two share one search gate. Free covers the five hourly platforms.

Fast keywords. Mark a keyword Fast and it is checked every 15 minutes on Reddit, Hacker News and Bluesky instead of hourly; its other platforms keep their normal schedule. Each Fast keyword uses one from your plan's allowance: 5 on Plus, 50 on Pro, 150 on Business.

Premium placements. LinkedIn, TikTok and X are checked once a day. Each keyword on each of them uses one placement, so one keyword on LinkedIn and X uses two.

Relevant mentions. Only posts that pass AI triage and reach your inbox count. Filtered or noise posts never do, so a broad keyword that matches a lot of junk costs you nothing. The allowance resets each month.

When you reach a limit

  • Relevant mentions: we email you and show a notice at 80% and 100%. At 100%, every monitor slows to a daily check until the month resets or you upgrade. Nothing pauses, triage keeps working, and there is no automatic overage bill.
  • Reply drafts stop at the monthly cap. Nothing else is affected.
  • Keywords, premium placements and Fast keywords are checked when you add a keyword, turn on a premium platform or mark a keyword Fast. Keywords already running are never stopped.

A keyword whose posts are filtered out more than 200 times in a day is flagged and slowed to daily automatically. It is a noise guard, not a charge: narrow the keyword (see Keywords) and it returns to its normal schedule.

Need more?

Each plan steps up keywords, premium placements and relevant mentions together, so the way to grow is the next plan. Need more than Business's 500 keywords? Email team@fishout.ai and we will size a plan around it.

What is on every plan

AI triage — relevance, the nine built-in labels, sentiment, language, teaching and the Reply call — and the Daily brief, unmetered. Manual labels are unlimited. Unlimited team members, every alert channel, and the full REST API, MCP server and webhooks — same endpoints and same scopes as any paid plan. We do not hold the API back as an upsell.

Which limit you hit first

Almost always keywords, not mentions. Ten is enough for your brand, a few competitors and a couple of problem phrases; it is not enough for the full set of topic phrases that actually find new customers.

Paused keywords still count. If you are at the limit, delete rather than pause the ones you have stopped using — see Keywords.

Retention

Mentions are kept for one year on Free and five years on every paid plan. Archived mentions count and stay searchable. See Security and data.

Changing plan

Switching between paid plans, up or down, takes effect as soon as the payment is confirmed, and the price is prorated: you pay or are credited for the rest of the current period. Moving to Free is a cancellation, which runs to the end of the paid period (see Cancelling).

A smaller plan deletes nothing. Keywords over the new cap stop being checked, newest first, until you delete some or upgrade; premium placements over the cap work the same way; Fast keywords over the cap go back to hourly; described labels over the cap become manual-only.

Cancelling

Cancel from Settings → Billing → Manage subscription, which opens the billing portal. A cancelled plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, then the organization moves to Free: nothing is deleted, keywords over the Free cap wait, newest first, and the rest are checked on Free's schedule. Pick a plan again at any time to pick up where you left off.

When a payment fails

If a renewal charge fails, the payment provider retries the card, and you keep your plan for 7 days from the first failure. Owners and admins get an email, and every screen shows a Payment failed banner with the date the plan lasts until. Owners and admins can use Update payment method in the banner to fix the card; members see a note saying who can.

A retry that succeeds clears the banner and the 7 days start over at the next failure. If the card is still failing after 7 days, the organization moves to Free as above, and nothing is deleted. While the grace runs, update the card rather than starting a new checkout.
