The inbox

A queue sorted best first, not a feed sorted by time — views, filters, and what to do with a mention once you open it.

The inbox is every relevant post from every platform in one list, sorted Best first: by relevance, then the Reply call, then newest. That is the difference between it and a feed: the top is the part that matters, and you stop reading when it stops being interesting.

Newest first and oldest first are there too, when you want them.

The FishOut inbox: a list of mentions with platform, author, headline, relevance and labels

A row at a glance

Every row carries the relevance bar, the platform and source, the author, the headline or opening line, and its labels. That is enough to skip most of them without opening anything.

Opening a mention

Opening one gives you what the row cannot:

  1. The post — and, for a reply, the post it answers when that post is in your inbox too, so a one-line reply makes sense.
  2. Triage — relevance with its Why chips, the Reply call and its hint, labels and sentiment. See Relevance and labels.
  3. Teach — Not for us, Relevant after all, Fix and Mute.
  4. A draft reply, on paid plans. See Replies.

Acting on one

ActionWhat it does
AssignPuts it in a teammate's queue. Assigned to me shows yours
SnoozeHides it for a day — for a thread worth answering later, not now
ArchiveRemoves it from the default view. It stays searchable
ReopenPuts an archived mention back
Mark read / Mark unreadFor your own bookkeeping
Track published replyRecords the link to the reply you posted and marks the mention replied

Archive works on a selection too, for clearing a page at once.

Views

Built-in views sit above your own. Each shows relevant posts that are New or Snoozed:

ViewShowsAppears when
Reply nowFresh posts where a helpful reply is welcomeReply call is on
LeadsPeople asking for recommendations, comparing, or describing a problem, on topic and competitor keywords — plus comparisons that mention your brandYou have topic or competitor keywords
SwitchersComplaints or negative posts about a competitorYou have competitor keywords
SupportQuestions, complaints and problems about your brandYou have brand keywords
AdvocatesPeople praising your brandYou have brand keywords
FilteredPosts below the relevance threshold, grouped by reasonAlways

A view that cannot match anything — no keywords of its kind, or its feature or labels switched off — is not offered at all. The sidebar also hides a built-in view while it has nothing in it, so a new project does not open on a column of zeros; it appears as soon as a post lands in it, and the view you have open always stays.

There are also All, Unread, Assigned to me, Snoozed and Archived. Assigned to me shows once the organization has a second member to assign to.

Filtering

Filter by text, platform, label, Reply call, sentiment, language and date. Filters combine, and they live in the URL — so any filtered view is a link you can send to someone.

Show filtered adds below-threshold posts to whatever you are looking at, without switching to the Filtered view.

Saved views

A filter you use every morning should be a saved view. Set the filters, then Save view and name it. Some worth having:

  • Questions on Reddit — platform Reddit, label Question.
  • German posts — language German, for the teammate who answers them.
  • Unhappy about pricing — one of your own labels, sentiment Negative.

Views are per project and shared with your team, so "the queue" means the same thing to everyone.

The Daily brief

At the top of the inbox is the Daily brief: the posts worth engaging with from the last 24 hours, a short summary, and any Spikes — keywords getting far more relevant posts than usual. It is written every morning at 07:00 UTC, and Generate now writes one on the spot.

The scheduled brief is also emailed to the project's members when it has something in it. Turn that off under Account → Email me the Daily brief.
