Octolens pricing explained (2026)

Octolens publishes two self-serve tiers and defaults its pricing page to the annual view, which is where most of the wrong numbers on the internet come from. It also removed its cheapest plan during 2026, so anything you read quoting $69 is describing a product you can no longer buy.

[01] THE TIERS/ OCTOLENS

Octolens pricing as published on 20 October 2026

Every figure here was read from Octolens pricing on 20 October 2026. That date is the point of this page rather than a footnote: when we re-checked all ten tools in this category, three had repriced during the year and every third-party figure we cross-checked was out of date. [02] WHAT IT METERS/ THE REAL LIMITS

Two meters, and both bill over

Keywords and mentions are metered separately, and both keep running past the quota rather than stopping. Extra keywords are $10 each on Pro and $5 on Scale; extra mentions are $0.013 and $0.01. There is a spend cap you can set, and flex mentions can be turned off — but the default is that a busy month costs more than the plan.

Ten keywords is the number that decides it

A brand, a product, three competitors and a few problem phrases is more than ten. At $10 each the eleventh onwards adds up quickly, and the jump to Scale is $400 a month. This is the single line most likely to move an Octolens bill.

Seats are free on every plan

Unlimited users on Pro, Scale and Enterprise, which is genuinely unusual in this category and is worth weighing against the per-keyword cost. A large team on few keywords does well here.

Source coverage differs by tier

Pro reaches about 15 sources: Reddit, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Hacker News, GitHub, Stack Overflow, DEV, and Trustpilot, App Store and Google Play reviews. Podcasts, newsletters, news and the open web are added on Scale — so part of the breadth Octolens is known for is a $599 feature.
[03] WHAT IS GATED/ BY TIER

Features that are not on every plan

A tier table shows prices; it rarely shows which features the prices are actually buying. These are the gates that decide the plan for most people — Seven days on Pro features, capped at 5,000 mentions. There is no free tier. Whether a card is required is not stated on the pricing page.

[04] WHAT CHANGED/ AND AGAINST US

Recent changes

Octolens repriced substantially during 2026. In January it sold four tiers — Starter at $69, Pro at $99, Scale at $299 — with a 34% annual discount and a trial capped at 1,000 mentions. Today Starter is gone, Pro is $199 with a smaller mention quota than it had at $99, Scale is $599, and the annual discount is 20%. It also added a REST API: in January its own FAQ said it did not offer one.

Octolens against FishOut

FishOut Pro is $49/mo for 200 keywords and 15,000 relevant mentions — filtered noise never counts — against Octolens Pro at $199 for 10 keywords and 15,000. Both include the API, webhooks and an MCP server on every plan, and neither charges per seat. What Octolens has that we do not is source breadth — about 15 sources on Pro, including Facebook, Instagram and review sites, and podcasts, newsletters and the open web on Scale, against our ten platforms — and share of voice on every plan. If those produce mentions you act on, that is a real reason to pay four times as much. What it does not do is draft the reply.
[05] COST TO GET IT/ SAME NEED

What you would pay Octolens for each need, and what FishOut charges

The tiers above answer “what does each plan cost”. This answers the question most readers actually arrive with: which plan would I need for the thing I want?

What do you use to find people asking for a tool like yours?

Keyword alerts give me fifty posts a day and maybe two are people actually shopping. Is there anything that reads them first?

Fifty a day with two buyers is the usual ratio. I work on AcmeMail, so weigh that: we stopped reading alerts and started reading a list sorted by who is asking.
