Why does Goose not connect to FishOut?

Check the key: Goose reads uri, not url. Then check type is streamable_http — Goose does not support SSE.

Do I need to register an OAuth client?

No. Goose gets a client automatically through client metadata documents or dynamic registration, both of which FishOut supports.

Can I add it with a link?

Goose supports goose://extension deeplinks with url, type and name parameters, all URL-encoded. The config file is easier to review.

Where is the config on Windows?

%APPDATA%\Block\goose\config\config.yaml. The fishout block is the same on every system.

My network needs a fixed OAuth callback port. Can Goose do that?

Yes. Goose listens on 127.0.0.1 on a random port by default; set GOOSE_OAUTH_CALLBACK_PORT to pin it. A client_id in the extension config would also take priority over automatic registration, but FishOut does not need one.

Can I use an API key instead?

Yes. In goose configure, answer yes to custom headers, set the header name to Authorization and the value to Bearer followed by your FishOut key.

Goose calls MCP servers extensions and supports remote ones over Streamable HTTP — not SSE. It signs in to FishOut without any registration on your side. The trap is one key name.

Add FishOut to Goose

Add the extension

Run goose configure, choose Add Extension and then Remote Extension (Streamable HTTP), or edit the config file. The key is uri — a url key is not read.

Goose obtains an OAuth client automatically and opens the FishOut sign-in. The callback listens on 127.0.0.1 on a random port; set GOOSE_OAUTH_CALLBACK_PORT if you need a fixed one.

This enables FishOut for the session only and installs nothing.

Check it worked. In the desktop app, FishOut appears under Extensions; in the CLI, ask for yesterday’s mention count and watch for the tool call.

[02] WORTH KNOWING FIRST/ LIMITS

Before it bites

Stated before you hit them.

The key is uri. Copying another client’s url key leaves the extension without an address.

Goose no longer supports SSE; FishOut is Streamable HTTP, so this only matters for old configs.

available_tools loads only the tools you list; leaving it empty loads all 115.

Not tested by us yet. Steps follow Goose’s documentation, read on 20 October 2026.

A tighter tool set. available_tools is an allow list.
