GummySearch vs Syften

Not a like-for-like pair, and the honest answer starts there. GummySearch was Reddit audience research — browse communities, size them, read their themes. Syften is keyword alerting across about twenty communities. GummySearch stops on 1 December 2026 and deletes its data, so the real question is which of its jobs Syften can take over. For keyword tracking, Syften does it better. For audience research, it does not try.

[01] JOB BY JOB/ THE TABLE

GummySearch against Syften

Every figure read from each vendor's own materials on 20 October 2026. A tick marks the column with the advantage on that row; plenty of rows have neither, which is usually the honest answer. Pricing in this category moves — three of the ten tools we track repriced during 2026 — so confirm anything you are about to sign for.

[02] WHERE GUMMYSEARCH WINS/ HONESTLY

Audience research, which nobody replaced

Browsing a subreddit’s themes, sizing it and saving it as an audience was GummySearch’s distinctive job. Syften does not do it, and neither does any monitoring tool. Export your audiences and reports before 1 December so the research is not lost.
[03] WHERE SYFTEN WINS/ HONESTLY

It will still be running in December

GummySearch closed to new signups and renewals on 1 December 2025 and deletes all user data on 1 December 2026, because it could not license Reddit’s Data API. Syften is an active product.

Beyond Reddit

Hacker News, podcasts, public Slack groups and more. A tool that watches one platform inherits that platform’s rules — GummySearch is the example.

Precise alerts and an API

Boolean filters with exclusions, an API from $29.95 and a read-only MCP server on PRO.
[04] HOW TO CHOOSE/ SHORTCUTS

You used GummySearch for keyword tracking

Syften

It does that job across more sources, with sharper filters.

You used it for audience research

Neither, honestly

Export your saved audiences before 1 December; no alerting tool replaces the browsing.

You used its Solution Requests theme to find buyers

Syften, with work

Write a filter for “recommend”, “alternative to” and similar phrases. It will not classify intent for you.

[05] A THIRD OPTION/ OURS, DISCLOSED

Where FishOut changes the answer — and where it does not

GummySearch’s most-used job was its themes: Solution Requests and Pain & Anger, sorted for you. Syften asks you to rebuild that as filters. FishOut does it as labels — Asking for recommendations, Has a problem, Complaint — applied by AI to every post across Reddit, Hacker News, Bluesky, GitHub and Google News on the free plan, with a Reply call and alerts to 13 destinations. It does not do audience research either. Our GummySearch alternatives page has the full migration steps.
[06] SEE IT ON YOUR KEYWORDS/ FREE PLAN

What you get instead of GummySearch or Syften

This is the free plan. Instead of a feed of matches, a list sorted by who is asking — and unlike GummySearch or Syften, alerts go to whichever of thirteen places your team reads.

Customers email three different addresses and we keep missing orders

Orders come in to info@, orders@ and my personal email. We have missed two this month. How do other small shops handle this?

Solve the problem first; the product is optional

Draft reply

Forward all three addresses into one shared inbox and you stop missing orders on day one. AcmeMail does this (I work there), but even a single Gmail with filters is a start.
