Brandwatch vs Talkwalker

Neither publishes a price, so a fair comparison is of what each does publish. Brandwatch, part of Cision, is the research suite: an archive back to 2008, classifiers, influencer marketing and six APIs. Talkwalker, owned by Hootsuite, is the monitoring suite: 30-plus social platforms, 187 languages, unlimited users on every plan and forecasting. For consumer research depth, Brandwatch. For multi-market monitoring across a large team, Talkwalker.

Brandwatch against Talkwalker

Every figure read from each vendor's own materials on 20 October 2026. A tick marks the column with the advantage on that row; plenty of rows have neither, which is usually the honest answer. [02] WHERE BRANDWATCH WINS/ HONESTLY

Depth of history

More than a trillion posts, back to 2008. For research questions that span years, Brandwatch’s archive is the reason to buy it.

Influencer and media intelligence under one contract

Influencer marketing across more than 30 million creators, and Cision’s media intelligence alongside.
[03] WHERE TALKWALKER WINS/ HONESTLY

Unlimited users, stated on the page

Talkwalker says every plan has unlimited users. Brandwatch does not publish its seat terms — one of the questions below.

Languages and markets

One hundred and eighty-seven languages, and plans that scale non-sampled volume — 2x on Analyze, 6x on Business.

Hootsuite, if you already use it

Hootsuite Listening runs on Talkwalker’s engine. For a team on Hootsuite Enterprise, that is the shortest path.

[05] QUESTIONS TO ASK BOTH/ BEFORE THE DEMO

Seven things neither pricing page answers

Because both are quote-only, the comparison you need is in the answers to these. Ask both, in writing, and compare like for like.
  1. 1

What volume does the quote cover, and is it sampled?

Talkwalker states non-sampled volume multipliers by plan; ask both what the base is and what happens past it.

  2. 2

How many users, and are viewers free?

Talkwalker says unlimited; Brandwatch does not publish seat terms.

  3. 3

Is API access included, and how is it metered?

Talkwalker bills its API in credits; Brandwatch does not publish which plan includes its six APIs.

  4. 4

How much history comes with the plan?

Brandwatch reaches back to 2008; Talkwalker adds history on higher plans. Ask for the number of months.

  5. 5

What is the minimum contract length?

Neither page says. Annual is common for suites; ask whether monthly exists.

  6. 6

Is there an onboarding or setup fee?

Professional onboarding is part of the pitch for both; ask whether it is priced separately.

  7. 7

How long is data retained after you leave?

Your queries, dashboards and exports are work; ask how long you can retrieve them.

[06] A THIRD OPTION/ OURS, DISCLOSED

Where FishOut changes the answer — and where it does not

If you are reading this because neither will tell you a price, FishOut publishes ours: free, then $19, $49 or $99 a month, self-serve, with AI triage on every post, an MCP server and API on every plan, unlimited seats and 13 alert destinations. It is not a research suite — no decade-long archive, no 187 languages, no influencer database — and for a global brand team it is not a substitute. For a small team that needs to know who is talking about its category this week, it does that job without the contract.
