FishOut vs Syften

Syften covers more sources than we do, including podcasts and public Slack communities that almost nobody else touches. It is also explicit that it does not score, does not do sentiment, and does not suggest replies — it is a precision filter, not a judgement engine.

Syften facts checked on 20 October 2026, from their own published material. Sources are listed at the foot of this page.

[03] WHERE SYFTEN IS STRONGER/ HONESTLY
Syften is boolean filters across about 20 developer communities, and there are things it does that we do not.

Sources nobody else has

About twenty sources, and the unusual ones are the point: podcast transcripts at around 35,000 episodes a day, public Slack communities with channel-level filtering, newsletters, Mastodon, Steemit and Product Hunt. If you need podcast monitoring, we do not have it.

Change detection on web pages

Syften’s added: and removed: operators fire when text appears on or disappears from a page — so you can be alerted when a competitor’s pricing page changes or you are dropped from a comparison table. That is a different capability from mention monitoring, and we do not have it.

One account, no seats

Syften has no user seats at all; teams share an account, so ten people pay $119.95 between them. We also do not charge per seat, but it is worth saying that neither of us does.
[04] WHERE FISHOUT WINS/ WITH PROOF

Judgement, not just filtering

Syften’s AI filtering is accept or reject. Its own API documentation says the response does not return scores, sentiment or suggested replies. FishOut gives every post a relevance from 0 to 100 with the Why behind it, labels such as Asking for recommendations or Complaint, sentiment, and a Reply call on every post.

It writes the reply

Syften finds the thread. FishOut drafts the response in your Voice, saying who you are, and stops there so you send it yourself from your own account.

Six people and one shared inbox is the exact shape where filters stop helping, because the problem is not sorting, it's deciding.

I work on AcmeMail — it sorts the inbox by what needs you, so you read the fifteen that matter.

LinkedIn, which Syften does not cover

Syften says plainly that it does not monitor LinkedIn. For B2B buyers that is a significant gap — LinkedIn is where the "we are switching off X" posts live.

A free plan and a lower entry price

Be fair to the competitor; offer a trial, not a verdict

Draft reply

I work on AcmeMail, so take this with salt: Notchmail is better if you live in its mobile app. We are better at shared views. The free plan is a fair way to check.

  • Says who you are
  • Fair to the competitor
  • No claims you cannot back up

Questions

Sources

  • Syften pricing and documentation — checked 20 October 2026. Entry $29.95, Standard $49.95, PRO $119.95 per month. Filters, not keywords: 3 / 20 / 100 community filters. About 20 sources named on the homepage, including podcast transcripts and public Slack communities; explicitly no LinkedIn. X (+$40/mo) and YouTube (+$20/mo) are add-ons listed on Standard and PRO. API access from Entry, covering query matches and editing filters; the archive API needs PRO. AI filtering is a binary accept/reject — the API docs state it returns no scores, sentiment or suggested replies. Read-only MCP server on PRO. No user seats: teams share one account.
  • FishOut pricing — checked 19 October 2026. lib/pricing-data.ts — the same data the pricing page renders.
