FishOut vs Mentionkit

The closest comparison in the category. Both use AI to judge which mentions matter, both ship an API and an MCP server, and both are priced for small teams rather than enterprises. The differences are in how much you get at each price, and in what happens after a mention is found.

Mentionkit facts checked on 20 October 2026, from their own published material. Sources are listed at the foot of this page.

[03] WHERE MENTIONKIT IS STRONGER/ HONESTLY
Mentionkit is AI-first social listening, one flat plan, and there are things it does that we do not.

One plan, one price

Mentionkit is a single $49 plan with unlimited mentions. There is no tier to work out and no feature gated above you. If a flat price you never have to revisit is what you want, that is a real thing to want, and our four tiers are more to think about.

Slack, which we do not cover

Mentionkit’s pricing table lists ten platforms, and Slack is one of them. FishOut does not monitor Slack. If the conversations you care about happen in Slack communities, that is a real gap on our side.

They are further along

Mentionkit launched in March 2026 and has been in customers’ hands for months. We are newer. If you need a tool with a track record this quarter rather than a roadmap, that matters and no feature table changes it.
[04] WHERE FISHOUT WINS/ WITH PROOF

The same count, a different ten

We both cover ten platforms, and nine of them are the same. Mentionkit has Slack where FishOut has Google News, so if press and news coverage belong in the same inbox as your Reddit threads, that is the swap that matters. The bigger differences are in what happens to a post once it is found.

Ten times the keywords at the same price

Mentionkit’s $49 plan carries 10 keywords and one project. FishOut Pro is $49 and carries 200 keywords and unlimited projects, with up to 15,000 relevant mentions a month. Keywords are the limit you hit first in this category — ten is enough for a brand and a few competitors, not enough to add the buyer-intent phrases that find new customers.

Every post shows its working

FishOut reads every post against your Brief and gives it a relevance from 0 to 100 with the Why behind it — Matches your brief, Means the product, not the word, Asking for help, Not answered yet. Anything below the threshold goes to a Filtered view with its reason, so you can check what was left out instead of trusting that it was. That is the difference between a number you act on and one you stop trusting after a fortnight.

Thirteen places to send an alert

Mentionkit alerts through Slack, email and webhooks. FishOut delivers to 13 destinations — email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Discord, Telegram, Mattermost, ntfy, Feishu/Lark, DingTalk, WeCom, Zapier and signed webhooks — so an alert lands wherever your team already reads.

A free tier, not a trial

Ten keywords on Reddit, Hacker News, Bluesky, GitHub and Google News, free forever, with the REST API, MCP server and webhooks included. Mentionkit offers a 14-day trial. You can run FishOut for a month before deciding anything, and Plus is $19 when you do.

Keyword alerts give me fifty posts a day and maybe two are people actually shopping. Is there anything that reads them first?

Fifty a day with two buyers is the usual ratio. I work on AcmeMail, so weigh that: we stopped reading alerts and started reading a list sorted by who is asking.
