Monitor Bluesky for buyer intent

Small, technical and unusually willing to answer each other. Low volume, high reply rates, and almost nobody else is watching.

[01] THE JOB/ BUYER INTENT

What buyer intent means

Finding people who are describing the problem you solve, asking for a recommendation, or comparing named products — usually without mentioning your brand at all.

What it looks like on Bluesky

Bluesky produces a fraction of X’s volume and a much better ratio. The audience skews technical and community-minded, recommendation requests get real answers rather than sarcasm, and the culture is closer to early Twitter than to current X. The practical consequence for buyer intent is that a post asking for a recommendation actually gets a thread, and a brand replying helpfully is treated as a participant rather than an intrusion — provided the reply is useful. It is the least contested of the ten platforms, which is most of its value.

What Bluesky will not give you

Lower volume means a keyword that produces fifty Reddit mentions a week may produce two here. That is not a failure — it is a smaller, denser network, and the two are often worth more.

[02] WHAT TO TRACK/ KEYWORDS

Keyword shapes for buyer intent on Bluesky

A keyword tuned for this job on another platform is usually silent here, because the same person writes differently in each place. The example beneath is read the way FishOut reads one: a relevance bar and the label it would carry.

recommendation requests

The same phrasings that work on Reddit work here, at a hundredth of the volume and with far better odds that your reply is seen.

your category, plainly

Small enough that a broad category keyword is manageable rather than overwhelming — which is not true on X.

competitor names

Low volume, and worth watching precisely because so few competitors are.

[03] HOW TO SET IT UP/ VIEWS & ROUTING

The configuration that works here

A relevance floor of 65, which is lower than anywhere else on this list and deliberate: the volume is small enough that you can afford to read more of it, and the reply rate is high enough that reading it pays. This is the platform where a broad keyword is still manageable.

And what to do with what arrives

A reply, from a human, in the thread, while it is still live. Work it from the Leads and Reply now views, draft in your Voice, assign to a person — FishOut never posts.
[04] THE COMMON MISTAKE/ AVOID THIS

Skipping it because the volume is small

Volume is the wrong measure on Bluesky. What matters is the ratio and the reply rate, and both are better than anything else on this list — a recommendation request here actually gets a thread, and a useful brand reply is received as participation. Judging it by mention count is how a cheap, uncontested channel gets left unwatched.
