Monitor Bluesky for bug reports

A technical audience that reports problems in more detail than X, at a fraction of the volume.

[01] THE JOB/ BUG REPORTS

What bug reports means

Finding problems with your product reported in public — in a thread, an issue on someone else’s repository, or a complaint that never became a support ticket.

What it looks like on Bluesky

Bluesky bug reports read more like GitHub than like X: the audience is technical enough to include a version, a symptom and sometimes a workaround, and the culture is closer to helping than to complaining. Volume is small, which means a low floor is affordable, and threading works well enough that a report often accumulates confirmations from other users underneath it. For a developer-facing product this is a genuinely useful channel that almost none of your competitors are watching.

What Bluesky will not give you

Lower volume means a keyword that produces fifty Reddit mentions a week may produce two here. That is not a failure — it is a smaller, denser network, and the two are often worth more.

[02] WHAT TO TRACK/ KEYWORDS

Keyword shapes for bug reports on Bluesky

A keyword tuned for this job on another platform is usually silent here, because the same person writes differently in each place. The example beneath is read the way FishOut reads one: a relevance bar and the label it would carry.

your product or package name

Low enough volume that a bare name is comfortable, and the audience is technical enough that a mention usually carries detail.

your name plus symptom or failure words

Narrower, and worth a separate higher-priority channel if the bare name produces more than you want to read.

your error strings

Less common than on GitHub but it happens, and a pasted error is the most actionable form a public report takes.

[03] HOW TO SET IT UP/ VIEWS & ROUTING

The configuration that works here

A relevance floor of 55 on the same engineering channel as GitHub, with no draft — the same agent can cover both platforms. The volume is low enough that a near-open floor is affordable, and the reports are detailed enough to be worth reading in full. Worth pairing with the GitHub keyword set, since the same users often do both.

And what to do with what arrives

To engineering, with no reply drafted. Write an agent: when a brand post is labelled Has a problem or Complaint, or a label you describe such as "Bug report", assign it to an engineer and send it to a webhook — a tracker, not a brand-voice answer.
[04] THE COMMON MISTAKE/ AVOID THIS

Not pairing it with the GitHub keywords

The same technical users report in both places, often about the same thing, and often with more detail on Bluesky than they bothered to put in an issue. Running the two keyword sets separately means the confirmation and the workaround land in different channels a day apart, and whoever is triaging sees half of each.
