Mention alternatives, compared

Mention withdrew its self-serve tiers in July 2025 and now publishes no price at all: one Company plan, a Get a demo button, and a trial that is really an Agorapulse trial. Most people on this page are not shopping — they are being repriced, and the question is what the money was actually buying.

[01] WHY PEOPLE LOOK/ MENTION

The self-serve plans are gone

Anyone who was on a mid-tier plan no longer has one to be on. The replacement is a single Company plan with no published price and a demo call, which is a different category of decision from a monthly subscription.

Publishing and replying were removed

Mention took those out for all users on 30 January 2026. If you were using it as a light social suite rather than a monitoring tool, the thing you were using is not there any more.

You were not using two years of history

The historical depth and multilingual emotion analysis are genuinely strong and genuinely expensive. Most teams check the last fortnight and pay for the other twenty-three months.
[02] THE ALTERNATIVES/ RANKED BY FIT

5 tools worth looking at instead

Ordered by fit for someone leaving Mention, not by who pays us — nobody does. Every price and platform count comes from the vendor's own materials and carries a date on the comparison pages. Pricing in this category moves, so check anything you are about to sign for.

FishOut

That's usFree, then $19/mo10 platforms

A twelfth of the price, monthly, for the part most teams used: ten platforms, AI relevance with the reasons shown and labels on every post, agents that route to a person, unlimited projects and seats. What you give up is the history — we hold a year on Free and five on paid, not two years by default — and the multilingual emotion depth.

Awario

$49/mo, $29 annually10 platforms

The value replacement among established suites: $49/mo, or $29 billed annually, with its own crawler, unlimited keywords inside each of three topics and 30,000 mentions. Closest to what a mid-tier Mention plan felt like, at a published price rather than a demo call.

Brand24

$249/mo15+ platforms

If the reporting was the reason — share of voice, reach, demographics, anomaly detection — Brand24 is the like-for-like at $249/mo. Still expensive, still three keywords on the entry plan, but it is the same kind of product rather than a cheaper different one.

Sprout Social

$99 per seat/mo, listening from $24910 platforms

If what you actually lost was the publishing and replying, this is where that job lives now. A whole social operation — publish, schedule, reply, moderate reviews, report — from $99 per seat per month, with listening as a paid add-on above the $249 Standard tier.

Mentionkit

$49/mo10 platforms

The small end of the market, and a clean landing if your watch list is short: $49 flat, ten platforms, AI scoring, drafts and an MCP server. One workspace and ten keywords, so check that against what you had.

[04] HOW TO CHOOSE/ SHORTCUTS

You were on a self-serve plan and just want it back

Awario or FishOut

Both around $49 a month, billed monthly, no annual contract. Between them they cover the two halves — Awario finds more, we rank what is found.

You needed the publishing that was removed

Sprout Social

It is a social management suite rather than a monitoring tool. We do not post anything, anywhere, by design, so we are the wrong answer to this one.

The reporting was the deliverable

Brand24

The nearest thing to Mention’s measurement depth at less than half the new price.

You want to spend nothing while you decide

FishOut or Google Alerts

Our free plan covers 10 keywords with the API and MCP server and does not expire; Google Alerts covers news and web for nothing. Either buys you a quarter to think.

What you get instead of Mention

What a team gets on the first evening, without a demo: switchers, complaints and press in one inbox, each with its reason. Mention measures the conversation; this tells you which part to answer.

Questions

Before you compare prices

Several tools in this category publish an annual rate as the headline and meter something other than keywords. We read every pricing page ourselves and wrote down what each plan actually limits.
