Monitor YouTube for product feedback

Review comments where people say what a tool is missing — and keep saying it, under a video that ranks for years.

[01] THE JOB/ PRODUCT FEEDBACK

What product feedback means

Finding what people wish your product did — feature requests, comparisons that name a missing capability, and the workarounds people build because something is absent.

What it looks like on YouTube

Feedback under a review video has a property no other source has: it accumulates. A comment saying "this would be perfect if it did X" sits under a video that keeps attracting people with the same need, and they agree with it underneath, which turns a single request into a visible tally. Reviewers themselves are also a feedback source, and a specific criticism from someone with an audience is worth more than the same point made privately, because it is what every viewer now believes.

What YouTube will not give you

FishOut matches a keyword in the video’s title and description, not in its comments or what is said in the video. KWatch documents the same limit: a keyword mentioned in the video but absent from the title or description will not trigger an alert. Open the video from the mention to read the objections underneath it.

What FishOut collects from YouTube

Videos, by title and description, newest first, with the channel attached. Comments are not searched.
[02] WHAT TO TRACK/ KEYWORDS

Keyword shapes for product feedback on YouTube

A keyword tuned for this job on another platform is usually silent here, because the same person writes differently in each place. The example beneath is read the way FishOut reads one: a relevance bar and the label it would carry.
keywords · youtube
your name plus wish language

"wish it", "missing", "only thing", "would be perfect if". The same vocabulary as Reddit, in a place where it accumulates agreement.

your name in review titles and descriptions

A review video is a durable statement about your product. Knowing it exists on the day it publishes is worth more than finding it a quarter later.

category plus "vs" or "alternatives"

Comparison videos where your absence, or your gaps, get enumerated for an audience that is deciding.

Been using this for six months. Would be perfect if it could route by keyword automatically — right now we sort everything by hand every morning.

[03] HOW TO SET IT UP/ VIEWS & ROUTING

The configuration that works here

A relevance floor of 60, labelled for the roadmap and reviewed monthly in a saved view. Worth noting which comments have accumulated replies or agreement, because YouTube is the only source where a feature request comes with an informal vote count attached. Nothing here is urgent, and nothing here expires either.

And what to do with what arrives

Labelled and collected rather than answered immediately — describe a label such as "Feature request" and the AI applies it, then save the view. This is the one job where the value is in the aggregate rather than the individual mention.
[04] THE COMMON MISTAKE/ AVOID THIS

Ignoring the reply counts

YouTube is the only source where a feature request comes with an informal vote attached — the comment asking for something accumulates agreement underneath it for as long as the video ranks. Treating each comment as one data point throws away the one signal this platform gives you that no other does.
