Monitor TikTok for product feedback

Short demonstrations of what a tool cannot do, and the comments agreeing — fast, blunt, and easy to dismiss for too long.

[01] THE JOB/ PRODUCT FEEDBACK

What product feedback means

Finding what people wish your product did — feature requests, comparisons that name a missing capability, and the workarounds people build because something is absent.

What it looks like on TikTok

TikTok feedback is demonstrative rather than descriptive: somebody shows the problem rather than explaining it, usually in under a minute and usually with an edge. For B2B products the volume is small and skewed towards workflow complaints from individual users rather than buyers. What makes it worth a keyword despite that is velocity — a workflow annoyance that becomes a format on TikTok reaches more people in a week than a Medium post reaches in a year, and by the time it registers elsewhere the belief is already fixed.

What TikTok will not give you

This is the platform where the relevance read does the most filtering. A brand name in a TikTok caption is usually a coincidence — the example below reads as relevance 12, lands in Filtered with the reason Different meaning, and never counts toward your allowance, which is the correct outcome.

[02] WHAT TO TRACK/ KEYWORDS

Keyword shapes for product feedback on TikTok

A keyword tuned for this job on another platform is usually silent here, because the same person writes differently in each place. The example beneath is read the way FishOut reads one: a relevance bar and the label it would carry.

your product name

Captions and descriptions rather than speech. Volume is low enough for a bare name and high enough to be worth catching early.

your name plus complaint or humour language

The format is usually comedic. "when your", "pov", "nobody tells you" alongside your name catches the ones that spread.

category plus workflow language

Demonstrations of the manual work people do because software does not do it, which is a feature request performed rather than written.

[03] HOW TO SET IT UP/ VIEWS & ROUTING

The configuration that works here

A relevance floor of 55, labelled and sent to a marketing channel rather than to product, and reviewed rather than reacted to. The individual mention rarely matters; a format catching on does. Be realistic about coverage first — FishOut reads captions and descriptions, not speech, so a spoken complaint over a silent demonstration is invisible.

And what to do with what arrives

Labelled and collected rather than answered immediately — describe a label such as "Feature request" and the AI applies it, then save the view. This is the one job where the value is in the aggregate rather than the individual mention.
[04] THE COMMON MISTAKE/ AVOID THIS

Overestimating the coverage

FishOut reads captions, descriptions and comments — not speech. On TikTok the common shape is a spoken complaint over a silent screen recording, which is invisible. A team that treats this cell as full coverage of TikTok will believe a quiet keyword means nothing is being said, and on this platform that inference is unusually likely to be wrong.
