FishOut vs Subreddit Signals

Subreddit Signals is built around subreddits: tell it what you sell, it suggests where to look, classifies intent, helps you write a reply in your voice, and on Pro measures the traffic that comes back. FishOut is built around keywords across ten platforms, with a free plan you can run for a month without a card. The reply drafting is close to parity; the rest is a question of scope.

[03] WHERE SUBREDDIT SIGNALS IS STRONGER/ HONESTLY
Subreddit Signals is Reddit conversations, context and replies, with attribution, and there are things it does that we do not.

Attribution after the reply

Pro includes Reddit and AI-referral traffic attribution: it measures what happened after you replied. FishOut’s job ends at finding the post and drafting the answer; pair it with your analytics if you want the second half.

Subreddit discovery

Describe your product and Subreddit Signals suggests subreddits to watch, and it has a free Subreddit Finder. FishOut has no subreddit browser — it watches your keywords wherever they appear.

Official Reddit API

Its pricing page says it uses the official Reddit API. That is worth knowing in a year when Reddit’s access rules decide which tools survive.
[04] WHERE FISHOUT WINS/ WITH PROOF

Try it without a card

Subreddit Signals’ trial is 14 days and asks for a card at checkout. FishOut Free is 10 keywords on five platforms, permanently, with no card — run it for a month, then decide.

Slack, Discord and a webhook from day one

Subreddit Signals sends an in-app feed and an email digest, with Slack on Pro. FishOut sends to 13 destinations on every plan, so a high-intent post can reach a channel the moment it is triaged.

Replies in your voice — on both

This is parity and worth saying: Subreddit Signals has a Comment Builder with voice profiles, and FishOut drafts in your project’s Voice and checks the draft says who you are. Neither posts for you. The difference is that FishOut does it for posts from Hacker News, Bluesky and GitHub too.

Six people and one shared inbox is the exact shape where filters stop helping, because the problem is not sorting, it's deciding.

I work on AcmeMail — it sorts the inbox by what needs you, so you read the fifteen that matter.

An API and MCP

Subreddit Signals lists no API, MCP server or webhooks. FishOut has all three on Free, so your assistant or your own code can read the inbox.

Seeing duplicate events when our handler takes over five seconds. Expected behaviour or a bug?

Acknowledge, give the workaround, link the fix

Thanks for the clear repro. Retries start at five seconds, so a slow handler sees a duplicate; dedupe on the event id for now. A longer timeout ships this week.
