Why use my own bot instead of a public one?

The token and the chat are yours, so nobody else sees what you track, and you can revoke it in BotFather at any time.

What if I get too many alerts?

Raise the floor rather than muting the bot. A muted bot is a channel that has silently stopped working.

Does it need Reddit API credentials?

No. FishOut collects Reddit; you only add keywords.

Can I reply from Telegram?

No — and that is deliberate. Open in FishOut shows a drafted reply that discloses who you are; you send it from your own Reddit account.

Reddit keyword alerts in Telegram

Founders set up Reddit-to-Telegram alerts so they never miss the thread where a customer is unhappy. The applets and scripts that do it send every match, and a buzzing phone gets muted within a week. FishOut sends the posts that clear a high floor and leaves the rest in the inbox.

[02] WHAT GETS FILTERED/ NOISE

What never reaches Telegram

2 Reddit matches that go to Filtered instead, each with its reason.

Filtered · Reddit

r/memesReddit

Acme products when the roadrunner shows up

Filtered · Different meaning

Cartoon jokes match a famous fictional brand name every day.

r/sysadminReddit

Weekly vendor rant thread

Filtered · Below threshold

A one-word mention in a megathread, not a story.

[03] KEYWORDS THAT WORK HERE/ REDDIT

For Reddit, into Telegram

More keyword shapes are on monitoring Reddit.

Your name + “support”, “spam”, “down”

The posts you want on your phone are the ones where a customer has a problem today.

Mark that keyword Fast

On a paid plan, a Fast keyword is checked every 15 minutes on Reddit instead of hourly.

A floor of 85

Telegram is a phone. At 85 almost everything that buzzes is a post you would answer today.

Your bot, your group

Create the bot with BotFather and message it once before connecting — Telegram bots cannot start a conversation. For a team, add it to a group; a group takes about 20 bot messages a minute.

[05] A BUSY DAY/ DIGEST

When Reddit gets loud

If an outage hits, Reddit fills before your status page does. A digest keeps that to two messages, and the inbox has every post when you sit down to answer them.
