Data Deletion

Last updated 19 October 2026.

You can delete anything in FishOut at any time, up to and including the whole account. Nothing here costs money and nothing requires you to explain yourself.

Deleting part of your data

  • A mention — delete it from the inbox. Archiving only hides it from your default view; deleting removes it.
  • A keyword — remove it from Keywords. You choose whether to keep or delete the mentions it already collected.
  • A project — delete it in settings, which removes its keywords, mentions, agents and saved views.
  • An API key — revoke it in API & MCP. Revocation is immediate.
  • A notification channel — remove it in Notifications. We stop sending immediately; anything already delivered lives in that service, not ours.

Deleting your whole account

In account settings, choose Request account deletion. It opens an email to help@fishout.ai; send it from the address on the account, or write to us yourself. We confirm the request with you before anything is removed, then delete the account, your organisation and everything in it.

Deletion is permanent and there is no undo, so export anything you want to keep first — mentions and insights can be exported from the app, or pulled through the REST API.

What happens, and when

  • Immediately: the data stops being reachable in the product and through the API, collection stops, and any scheduled alerts stop.
  • Within 30 days: it is purged from backups, which are kept on a rolling window.
  • Kept longer: only what we are legally required to keep — chiefly billing and tax records, which are retained for the period the law sets and used for nothing else.

If you are not a FishOut customer

FishOut collects public posts on behalf of its customers, so a post of yours may appear in a customer's workspace. That customer decides what is held there — they are the controller of it, and we process it for them.

If you want a post of yours removed, contact us with a link to it. We will pass the request to the customer whose workspace holds it and remove it on their behalf where we are able to. If you have deleted the post at the source, tell us and we will remove our copy.
